This work was originally written for The University of North Texas trombone quartet, Maniacal 4.
The composer was listening to and studying the music of Messiaen during the outset of this project and playfully nicknamed the piece, The Quartet for the End of Slide (cue the snare hit and crickets).
Though originally conceived as a trombone quartet, this version of the work may also be performed using any combination of euphoniums and tubas.
