John Dowland was an English Renaissance composer, singer, and lutenist. Come Again, sweet love doth now invite is one of his most well known compositions. The lyrics are anonymous. Dowland's music can be performed by soloist and lute or by a small vocal group (typically SATB). The song is bitter-sweet, typical of Dowland who cultivated a melancholy style. It was published in his "First Booke of Songes or Ayres" (1597).
