Ernie Carlson
I hope you enjoy these exercises. Here’s an explanation of how they came about...
I got bored with all the books and collections I had since I played them so many
times, I could play most of them in my sleep. So... I decided to create my own by
modifying everyone else’s public domain material. :-)
I drew from clarinet, flute, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, baritone,
violin, viola and cello. I’ve deleted measures, added measures, changed octaves, changed
keys, added many notes, and subtracted many others.
My goal throughout has been to challenge myself, all the while having fun, giving
me a reason to look forward to practicing. It’s been a labor of love. And the best part is
that I went from practicing about 15 minutes 3 times a week to upwards of 4 to 6 hours
most days.
I hope they’re as much fun for you as they are for me.
