This arrangement presents this well-known Christmas or Advent hymn in a new and refreshing style that is so beautifully enabled by a string quartet. The piece begins with an anticipatory style reflective of the lyrics, "O Come, O Come, Emmanuel ...". It then builds to a celebratory style consistent with the refrain's lyrics, "Rejoice! Rejoice!". Then, as the piece closes, it calms again to a warm and introspective style similar to the beginning.
