Baroque Concerto for Low Brass Instrument, Strings and Continuo by Johann Ernst Galliard (1687-1747)
Not many solo pieces were written for low brass instruments - serpent and trombone - in the baroque era, yet now it is an option to actually play this piece for Euphonium, Bass Trombone or Tuba. The Concert is a transcription of Galliards Sonata No. 5 for Bassoon or Cello. Mr. Andresen has arranged the piece so the melodies is being played by both the solo instrument and the orchestra.
The Continuo Cembalo/Harpsicord part is optional. The piece can also be performed as chamber music with solistic string parts.
