Pagan Ritual Firedance - Composed for Brass Sextet by Robert Cohen('1945).

Fire Dancing is a pagan ritual first performed by the ancient Thracians. Dancing on hot coals and falling into a trance, they met the coming summer by glorifying the name of the Sun God who carried with him the fire, asking him to give them health, success and fruitfulness throughout the year. This work for brass sextet musically imagines the ceremonial preparation and execution of this fiery ritual.Duration (estimate): 3:44
