Bruckner completed Os justi in 1879 as a gradual for Ignaz Traumiler of St. Florian, Austria. The work sets the text of Psalm 37: 30-31 in Lydian mode. The work is ternary form, with the middle section comprising a soloistic round with entrances cycling via ascending a 5ths. The Brass Quintet arrangement concludes in monophonic chant, “Hallelujah”.
