Harry James was a phenomenal Trumpet player with his own band, a band that was the first to sign a 7 month contract with Frank Sinatra in 1939. He was also a good composer, and had his hands deep in this showoff piece he called "Trumpet Concerto" The piece is hard in the 1. Trumpet part, but very manageable in the rest of the Quintet.
