Basin Street Blues was composed by Spencer Williams in 1928. It is named
after the famous street in New Orleans and has been recorded by many
jazz artists, including Louis Armstrong in 1928. The “call and response”
nature of this piece is reminiscent of that style in many church hymns.
This fun arrangement features all the instruments in the quintet and
jumps through several interesting key changes. This can make a good
